Cut me a Check I work for the State, Trust me.
December 11, 2008

http://www.fotosearch.com/       New York State Attorney General Cuomo announced today that the state has no idea how many "Government Agencies" the state actually has. With each of these agencies needing state personal to operate and many needing relevant legal support the state has no idea exactly how much of the states taxpayers dollars wander off to become budgeted to an agency that the state does not know exists. The Chief Counsel of the state agency that monitors Duck Waste announced that he would return 50% of the 400,000 dollar retainer the agency had offered him justifying the remaining portion of state funds necessary to keep the firm on retainer in the event someone in the state slips on said Duck Waste and sues the State of New York in the matter. As such the Governor announced the formation of a state agency funded with Lottery Revenues to review and finalized for the state the exact number of governing legislative entities that the state has. As the Lottery funds usually earmarked for education never arrive there anyway the monetary diversion should cause little economic upset.

http://www.fotosearch.com/       Many State and Local legislators have come together to form various committees using hundreds of thousands of dollars of additional local revenues to investigate whether a law should be passed outlawing the use of Text functions on Cell Phones while Driving. Some legislators believe that the resolution should come from only the state level while others believe this should be a federal mandate in accordance with new regulatory guidelines given to the F.C.C. (Federal Communications Commission). Meanwhile the Regulatory agency Public Relations office had no comment other than asking whether the new board room table should be solid cherry or solid oak and I went for the Cherry wood.
Thankfully the law for using a cell phone without a hands free device still remains intact with fines averaging $150.00 for a first incident. Some believe this infraction will nose dive as the more safety minded drivers realize they can now use both hands to "reach out and touch someone" and use their knees to steer thereby maintaining safe control over their vehicles. I anxiously await the decision that will decide who to take the question to, local or state, state or federal in order to form a committee to make a decision in this issue.
